Oxford Canal Mural Competition/Project
Could you help design murals to improve the look of the Oxford Canal and create a stunning gateway into Oxford?
A partnership of the Canal & River Trust, Oxford City and County Councillors, Thames Valley Police, the local boating community and the Waterways Management Company have formed a committee to promote the Oxford Canal Mural Project.
We are looking for people to submit designs, ideas and pictures for four murals to be painted on two bridges along the canal in North Oxford. The competition is open to everyone including professional and amateur artists, students, children and local residents.
There are two themes for the murals:
Elizabeth Jennings Way Bridge (Two murals) – The life of the canal past and present and the local area around the two bridges.
Frenchay Road Bridge (Two murals) – The wildlife and natural scenery along the canal; specifically the wildlife of the Trap Grounds Local Wildlife Site.

To see all the designs and vote for your favourite, visit the Oxford Canal Festival on Saturday 25th June
- Not all the selected designs will be included in the final murals.
- An artist will pull all the designs together to create a cohesive design.
